buses stopping and going

crowded street lanes
walking as swiftly-
purposeful
as 1 can attempt to be,
undistracted by the shrieks
of tires
in their incessant function
on the pot-holed and paved
black hot tar street,
heated by the sun
a hot day in June;
passing the streets
drug-ridden with blight
cleaning out cobwebs
inside of the thoughts

quiet concentration
adore a knotted fist,
questioning around

among life and death
and winter chill

and a serpent's bite
among the poison stings of
mindless fright;
the wintry, windy frozen blast,
a cold and windy day has passed
at last-
passes to evening
in sorrow's glass;
as pigeon's fly
in sudden fright
